LAYON ("the Software", "LAYON", "we", "us", "our") is a professional album design product operated by AFVMEMORIES SRL, a company registered in Romania. Our website is https://getlayon.com and you can reach us through our contact page. By downloading, installing, purchasing or using LAYON you agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Software.
LAYON is desktop software for photographers used to create photo album layouts and export print-ready album designs. It also includes an optional client-approval ("proofing") feature that lets you share album previews with your clients for feedback.
When you first sign in to LAYON with your email address you receive 3 free albums, given once per computer and per email address. Designing and saving albums is free; letting an album out — exporting it or sending it to a client for review — needs a free album, an album credit or a paid plan:
Each grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use LAYON on up to 2 (two) devices at the same time that you own or control. Your account and license key are personal to you; you may not share, sublicense, sell, rent, or transfer them. We may deactivate a license or account that is used in breach of these Terms, for example one shared between people. Licenses for LAYON 1.x remain valid and also work in LAYON 2.
LAYON 2 is a desktop application for Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit) and for macOS 12 Monterey or later (Apple silicon and Intel). An internet connection is required to sign in and periodically validate your license (see section 5). It is your responsibility to ensure your computer meets these requirements; the free albums let you confirm LAYON runs on your system before you buy.
You sign in to LAYON with your email address (LAYON emails you a one-time code) or your license key; your license is then activated online and bound to that device, and LAYON checks it when it starts. If your computer is temporarily offline, LAYON keeps working during a short offline grace period (about 7 days) from the last successful check; after that, an internet connection is needed to validate the license again. You can deactivate a device from within the app or from your account portal to free a slot for another machine.
The license for life includes all updates of LAYON 2 (new tools, improvements and bug fixes) at no extra cost; the monthly plan and album credits always use the latest version. We may change, add or remove features over time to keep improving the product.
Payments for LAYON are processed by Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd), which acts as the Merchant of Record and authorized reseller of LAYON. When you buy a license, a plan, album credits or an ART design, your purchase is also subject to Paddle's checkout and buyer terms, and Paddle is responsible for billing, payment processing, tax collection and invoicing. You must comply with Paddle's applicable payment terms to complete a purchase.
You retain all rights to the albums and images you create with LAYON, and you may use them for any lawful purpose, including commercial projects for your clients.
Album templates and collages from the LAYON ART store, free or paid, are licensed to you for designing albums with LAYON, including albums for your clients. They stay in your collection, bound to your account; you may not resell, share or redistribute the design files themselves.
The proofing feature is optional. In LAYON 2, sending an album to your client for review is part of letting that album out (a free album, an album credit or a plan). When you use it:
The LAYON software, its name and branding, its user interface, and the content of this website remain the exclusive property of AFVMEMORIES SRL and are protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you a license to use the Software; they do not transfer any ownership rights in LAYON to you.
You agree not to: (a) reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software except where permitted by law; (b) resell, redistribute, or make the Software available to third parties; (c) bypass, disable, or tamper with licensing or activation; (d) remove or alter any proprietary notices; or (e) use LAYON for any unlawful purpose or in any way that infringes the rights of others.
The Software is provided "as is" and "as available". While we work hard to keep LAYON reliable, we do not warrant that it will be entirely error-free or uninterrupted. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties not expressly stated here.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the Software or these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid us for LAYON in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your statutory consumer rights.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date above. Continued use of LAYON after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania, except that your purchase transaction may also be governed by Paddle's buyer terms where those apply. This does not deprive you of any mandatory consumer protections available to you under the law of your country of residence. If you have a complaint we cannot resolve directly, you may be entitled to use an alternative dispute resolution scheme available to consumers in your country.
